Telehealth
About Telehealth
"Telehealth" is the use of technology like computers and mobile devices (smart phones or tablets) over the internet to allow remote medical appointments using video calls and/or virtual chat software.
Using Telehealth
First, patients should schedule appointments as usual, by calling the clinic or requesting an appointment through your patient portal.
Before your telehealth appointment, you should make sure that your browser has permission to use your webcam and microphone so we may see and hear you. If these permissions are not allowed, you should be prompted when you check in to your telehealth appointment.
Just before the time of your appointment, you will receive an email and/or text link to join your telehealth appointment. Follow the link and approve any necessary settings. One of our nurses will meet with you first to complete your check-in. After that, your provider will meet with you for your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions about Telehealth
Will a visit via telehealth be as effective as an in-person one?
We believe that it is important to let you know that not every situation is right for telehealth. Be assured that we will only schedule remote visits for the right kinds of cases. Remote visits have proven to be equally as effective as in-person ones for many health conditions. In fact, telehealth improves clinical outcomes by making it easier for people to comply with follow-up recommendations and aftercare. If during the telehealth visit, we feel that we cannot treat you adequately, an in-person visit will be arranged.
Is my privacy protected?
Yes. We have carefully chosen a telehealth system that safeguards your personal information and meets the tough HIPAA regulations for data transmission and storage. Your visit is not being recorded, and any information you type on the website (like your name) is deleted when the telehealth session ends.
Can medications be prescribed during a telehealth visit?
Yes.
Where do I need to go for my telehealth visit?
Most people prefer to have their visit at home or in a private office, but you can be in any location with internet access that you feel provides enough privacy and isn’t too noisy.
How much will it cost?
These appointments are typically covered by your regular health insurance. That means that you will be charged the same co-pay as an in-person visit. If you do not have insurance, we can talk about a self-pay option.
How do I schedule a visit?
Just contact our office exactly like you would for an in-person visit and let us know you would like to see your provider via video. Our staff will help you log on to our telehealth system.
Do I need to sign up for an account?
No, as a patient you do not need to create an account with us to see your provider. You will receive a link to the email and/or phone number you provide to connect with your provider.
What hardware and software do I need?
You will need a smartphone or a personal computer that has a camera and a microphone.
